It has more than 300 member companies involved in the development or deployment of clean energy and energy efficiency technologies including wind, hydro, wave and ocean, solar photovoltaic and thermal, bioenergy, solar hot water, geothermal and cogeneration.
The Council is an incorporated not-for-profit association and is headquartered in Melbourne.
The Council is funded principally by fees paid by its members, with this income augmented by revenue from events and conferences, project management and through the provision of fee-for service activities including industry accreditation programs.
In exchange it provides a variety of services to members. Its primary role is to develop and advocate effective policy to accelerate the deployment and development of the industry and improve its efficiency. The Council also promotes awareness of the industry and clean energy business opportunities through forums such as industry events, meetings, newsletters, directorates and through increased public awareness via a suite of online tools and the media.
The Council reports to a 12-member Board voted by its members annually. The Board advises on the strategic direction and prudent financial management of the organisation.
The Council’s policy and advocacy work is guided by a dedicated committee, comprising a representative of each sponsoring member and the chair of each directorate. The Policy and Advocacy committee reports to the Board.
